Every dog is a superhero for their person — and just like you’ll see in the all new action-adventure SUPERMAN, they’d risk it all for you.

Just look at Krypto, Superman’s™ canine sidekick, who bravely comes to his rescue and takes him home in the upcoming DC Studios film from Warner Bros. Pictures, in theaters July 11th. Such a hero! (Krypto, that is — though Superman’s awesome, too.)

At Pumpkin we’re lucky to hear about superpowered dogs like Krypto every day. Here are four of our favorites who prove that all canines are superheroes.

Popeye the Siberian Husky service dog

Siberian Husky superpowers

  • Off-the-charts emotional intelligence
  • Always up for adventures
  • Immune to winter

Popeye is a 5-year-old Siberian Husky service dog who didn’t get his name because he loves spinach like the famous cartoon character — but he is a big fan of food. He’s an even bigger fan of his dad, Matthew. Popeye is his dad’s psychiatric service dog and constant companion.

So, this canine kiddo has a pretty active social life: He’s been on more than 15 flights, attended more than 20 concerts (with noise-canceling headphones, naturally), and has attended lots of sporting events (go Broncos!).

“Popeye is the most lovable and hardworking guy,” Matthew says. “He finds a sense of purpose in working for me and is always friendly to everyone.”

That description aligns with the typical Siberian Husky temperament: These fabulous canines are known for their love of adventure and smarts, so it’s no wonder that Popeye’s also an avid hiker who’s been to many of Colorado’s hot springs and doesn’t mind the cold.

When Matthew’s son was in a car wreck Popeye spent nearly a month visiting the hospital to comfort them. He charmed the whole staff and other patients, too. Siberian Huskies tend to be very attuned to humans’ emotions, so this is second nature to a pup as emotionally intelligent as Popeye.

No one could have predicted, then, that Popeye would face his own health challenge when he had a seizure. “Without knowing what was wrong with him, I was completely distraught and at a loss for my best friend,” his dad says.

They rushed to the emergency vet, where Popeye got the diagnostic tests he needed, thanks to pet insurance. “This let us immediately diagnose Popeye’s epilepsy and get him the right prescription meds to fix his issue,” Matthew explains.

Popeye hasn’t had a seizure since and is back to being his dad’s right-hand man.

“He is the bestest boy ever, and I’m thankful to Pumpkin for continuing to help me keep him as healthy as possible,” Matthew says.

Meeko the Rottweiler for the visually impaired

Rottie superpowers

  • Goal crusher
  • Superior snuggles
  • Would give up treats to save your life

You might be wondering, can Rottweilers be service dogs? For 3-year-old Meeko’s mom, it’s a resounding yes. That’s because he’s her guide dog — and her hero. Meeko’s mom is visually impaired and she relies on him to get around every day.

For a pup like Meeko, this kind of helpfulness is his jam: Rottweilers tend to adore their families and want to keep them happy and safe, but they’re also calm, goal-oriented pups who love to focus on a task. The Rottweiler temperament, in fact, is hopelessly loyal and affectionate.

And while a big canine kiddo like Meeko looks like a brave and serious giant, his family knows his true goofy side. His favorite thing in the world? Butt scratches. His favorite sound to make? An adorable bear growl when he gets excited.

“He’s an amazing family dog,” his mom Brandee says. “He enjoys being lazy on the sofa when he’s not working.”

It came as a shock when Meeko needed surgery. His mom was devastated, but also prepared.

“He was able to receive the surgery he needed and I didn’t have to worry about having to continue to care for my family,” Brandee says, noting that her pet insurance claim reimbursement arrived quickly via direct deposit.

As for sweet Meeko, he was back to his normal self — and resumed his regularly scheduled duties — within three weeks.

Winston the Labradoodle therapy dog

Labradoodle superpowers

  • Joy Generation vibes
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Social butterfly

Labradoodles have a reputation for being little beacons of joy and light, and Winston the Labradoodle is no different.

This 3-year-old ray of sunshine is the “happiest dog in the world,” says his mom, Ketty, who calls him Mr. Gregarious. This all makes him the perfect therapy dog, who visits hospices and rehab centers for seniors.

While no dog is 100% hypoallergenic, Labradoodles are low shedders and less likely to provoke allergies — so along with his friendly Labradoodle temperament, Winston is an ideal fit to visit anyone looking for a hug.

When Winston unexpectedly became ill, his mom was relieved she didn’t have to worry about the cost of care: “I approved very expensive tests knowing they would be covered by my insurance,” Ketty says. “After a month of testing and diagnosis, he was back on his feet and feeling better.”

Not only has Winston resumed his very important job of cheering everyone’s day, but he’s also back to his other favorite pastime: daily hikes with his favorite person, his mom.

Torvi the brave Belgian Malinois rescue

Belgian Malinois superpowers

  • True hero (K9 cops and first responders!)
  • Laser focus
  • Infinite zoomies

Belgian Malinois are known for being one of the most active dog breeds out there, and 10-year-old Torvi is no exception. “She loves to play fetch, chase her jolly ball, and wrestle with her siblings,” says Ashley, Torvi’s mom.

This breed is commonly used as police and rescue dogs because they thrive when they have a purpose, and the Belgian Malinois temperament is also incredibly resilient. Torvi was rescued from a backyard breeder, where she lived outside.

“Torvi has since lived a life of luxury and is spoiled with endless love every day,” Ashley says.

Despite her laser focus on tasks, she’s also the goofiest pup. “She has a low tolerance for cuddling and will offer about three minutes of genuine cuddling before she bolts,” her mom says, laughing. “We take what we can get from her.”

What more can you expect from a busy super-powered pup with places to be?

One day, though, Torvi was having trouble going upstairs, where she normally slept in her parent’s bedroom. It turned out to be a knee problem, which can be debilitating. Pumpkin Pet insurance covered 90 percent of her eligible vet bill. “This was a huge relief to our family and made her recovery that much smoother,” her mom says. “She brings me so much happiness, and I’m so happy to give her the life she deserves.”

Super-powered dogs deserve the best

Whether they’re a certified service or therapy dog — or just a bright ray of sunshine who greets you every time you walk through the door — our super-powered dogs deserve someone to take care of them, just like they take care of you (even if their definition of TLC is climbing onto your lap when they’re 100 pounds or helping you finish your hamburger — you’re welcome!).
